How to Add a Network Printer in Windows 8.1
It is a quite easy process to add a printer in Windows 7 or Windows 8, but a little bit different in Windows 8.1. Adding printer is not an automatic process and the users have to complete this process manually. So it seems confusing to the users to add a printer in Windows 8.1. Steps to Add a Network Printer in Windows 8.1
Step 1: You need to click on the “Folder” icon you will find on the right side of the “Start” button at the bottom of your screen.
Step 2: In the next window you will find an icon ” Open Control Panel”. Click on it.
Step 3: Now you will be led to another window where you need to select the option “View devices and printers” under the category of “Hardware and Sound”.
Step 4: You will see all of the available printers in the next screen. If your desired printer exists in the list, you need to click on it in order to add it to Windows 8.1 otherwise click on the option “Add a printer” on the top of the screen.
Step 5: Now the system will start looking for your required printer.
Step 6: Once the system gets it, you can click on it for adding into the system and click the option “Next”.
Step 7: Now you need to select whether you want to share this printer or not. If you want to share this printer, you need to specify a Location and Share name and click the button “Next”.
So, you have successfully added your required printer to Windows 8.1. Now you will see a new printer in the menu “Devices and Printers”. If you see a green check-mark before it, it means it has been set as default printer in your system.
